Celebrations on the coast
I spent a day on the coast. Not in Valparaiso, the designated destination for those living in the capital, but in Algarrobo, a coastal town popular with sunbathers in summers. Now, in winter, it's a sleepy hamlet where pelicans lounge on the beach in hope for a stray fish thrown of the wharfs.
The occasion was the birthday of a set of Bolivian twins I had met on a city tour a few days earlier.
And, it was the day Chile won the Copa America. Unprecedented, Chilenos the country over went completely wild. The winning goals (the game ended penalties) were played over and over, on television, for days.
