14 Sep 2003 | The Big Fat Greek Wedding

A4 highway close to Ikea

Several weeks ago, I already made reservations at the hostel we were planning on staying at in Athens. A good thing since, when arriving, we noticed several groups of people being turned down.

'Pens', or Frodo, was getting married to Melina in Kavala, Greece. After meeting in the UK some 8 years ago they'd lived together, broken up, lived together again and were now sharing an apartment on the hills of Kavala, overlooking the city and the sea. Betsy, Joost and I decided it would make perfect sense to enjoy this 'Big Fat Greek Wedding' and extend our stay, visiting Athens, Kalambaka, Thessaliniki, Istanbul, Gallipoli and Troy.
